Dorm Designing 101; Organizing Your Closet: Session 3

It is so easy to come back to your dorm and just throw your stuff on the ground or your clothes in your closet. But, you should probably try and keep your dorm organized so you can actually find things to wear and know what's clean and what's not and this goes for any room, not just a dorm. I have put together a few tips and tricks to keeping your closet neatly organized and things to add to it to make it have an adorable design.
Tip #1: Have Drawers to store clothes that don't need to be hung up and aren't necessarily your favorite thing. These drawer could go from floor to ceiling or just have a few drawers that are stacked on top of something. i.e. shoes/shoe rack (as seen in image to right), shelves to store accessories, personal items, etc. You could decorate these drawers to fit your personality, paint these a different color, add a pattern/ sticker, etc. I like how in the image to the right they have the drawers in the middle of everything and the items that are hung up divided. You could have these drawers each hold different types of clothing such as shirts, shorts, pants, etc.  Drawers are a great way to store items and clothes in your closet and keep them organized in many different ways.

Tip #2: Have shoe racks for your shoes and place them according to how much you wear them and the ones that are your favorites and the ones that are your least favorite. Keep these on the bottom so they are easy to get to and you can quickly and efficiently grab them as a last detail to your outfit. Maybe have two shoe racks and one on each side (one for you and one for your roommate if you share a closet)

Tip #3: Have bins to hold excess stuff that you don't really use anymore or store clothes that aren't in season for next season. As you can see in the picture above~ the black and white polka- dot bins are absolutely adorable and can be used to store old clothes or simply things you don't use too often.

I hope you found this post helpful and be sure to stay tuned for our next series!
