Wedding 101: Planning The Perfect day; Session 1

This week I decided to start a wedding series! This day should be super special and takes lots of planning in advance. You definitely want this to be a day to remember so the first session today will be about planning the perfect day and the next few sessions will get into a little more detail.

1) Find a Venue~ This step is crucial because the place is what sets the mood for the entire wedding! Choose a venue that appeals to the bride and groom and is sentimental to both and has a great mix between both personalities and styles.

2) Pick Your Colors~ This step is also very important to setting the tone of your wedding. You should try not to have too many heavy colors, but mix them with lighter colors to balance each other out. You can stick to traditional whites and greys and beige with tan or go for pinks and yellows and purples and much more! These colors must be consistently used throughout the whole wedding. So choose carefully! :)

3) Pick Bridesmaids, Best Man, etc.~ You need to choose your standing bodies and bridesmaids, best man, flower girl, and ring bearer. Choose people who you have known for a long time and who rightly so deserve a place in your wedding along with a place in your heart.

4) Find a Caterer~ Pick out the caterer and menu you want for your wedding. Whether it's fancy or simple you want something that both you and your soon to be love.

5) Find Dresses~ Pick out dresses that support your colors and theme. Your Wedding Dress should be fancier than the bridesmaid, if so you choose, and can be a traditional white and cream or blush or any other color you wish. Just because your dress should be fancier than the bridesmaids' doesn't mean it can't still be simple. The bridesmaid dresses should all be the same color, but can be different dresses (unless you want them all the same). It is very important to have this done a month or so in advance. Check this off your wedding to-do list.

7) Choose Flowers and Flower Arrangements~ You should find the perfect arrangement that suits your day perfectly and is filled with your colors and has your favorite flowers in it (mine are orchids). You could have some flower centerpieces for each table and bouquets for the lucky bride and bridesmaids.

8) Wedding Photographer~ You need to find someone who will put together great photos and come up with all sorts of creative picture ideas and so that you can put together a great album and cherish these memories forever.

9) Wedding Rings~ Pick out wedding rings to fit your soon-to-be's personality. This should be one of the first things to get checked off your list.

10) Guest List and Invitations~ Make sure you put together a guest list that appeals to both the bride and groom. Before making this list, have in mind about how many people you want to invite and work from there. Also, be sure to pick out invitations that support your colors and have the right look to them. Whether you decide to go with simple lace, or traditional cream, make sure to have the perfect look for your invitations so your guests will know what the wedding will look like.

11) Cake~ Find an adorable cake that you fall in love with- after all the theme of a wedding should be love, right. If it were me, I would go with a simple layered cake with flowers drawn on the sides using icing and white fondant and icing with a heart as my cake topper, but its not my wedding, it's yours so pick the cake that speaks to you.

12) Hair and Makeup~ Choose how you want to have your hair and makeup done. Whether you want to do it yourself or hire someone to do it for you, you should look glamorous. Most people prefer to curl their hair and put it in some sort of up-do and go for a natural makeup look, but that may not be for you so choose what you want to do and I wish you the best of luck! <3

13) Choose a Theme~ Finding the perfect theme is very important and everything above should follow this theme. For my wedding, I wish to do a Love them and have everything in white and cream with lights in the shape of hearts, but you and your soon-to-be may have a theme that is very special to you and you should go for that theme and have everything follow this.

14) Decorations~ To go along with this last step, you should have decorations that follow your theme to its fullest. Table decorations, lights, tents, tablecloths, etc. all fall under this category.

15) Write and Rehearse Vows~ I think it is the cutest thing when couples write their own vows and I definitely want to for my wedding. So if you and your soon-to-be choose, write vows that mean a lot to each other and show how far you have come as a couple. Vows should be special and unique and come from the heart, as cheesy as that sounds, and not from Google, or a TV show. They should be your own. So make the most of this and enjoy this special moment.

I hope this session helped you put together basic knowledge of how you should put together your wedding and stay tuned for this series has only just begun. #ido #metoo
