Wedding 101: Choosing the Perfect Theme; Session 2

In my last post, I gave you an overview of your wedding checklist. In this post, I am I going to get into more detail with one of the things I mentioned, which is picking the theme. As I said in my last post, this step is crucial because it sets the mood for your wedding and everything must stick to this theme. So, below are a few tips to help you pick the perfect theme for your wedding and ideas for a theme with examples and pictures. Let's get started!

There are many different wedding themes you could go for- rustic, vintage, beach, country, and many, many more. Themes can be displayed in many different ways- through cakes, displays, invitations, etc.

Picking Your Theme Tips and Tricks:
1) Choose the theme that is sentimental to you~ This means the bride and groom must choose something that means a lot to them, both of them and will make their day even more magical. Use a theme that the bride and groom share- an event, milestone, or simply something they both love. You want the theme to be appealing to both, the bride and the groom, so they both can cherish the perfect day and have the theme as the cherry on top.

2) Choose a theme that is easy to work with~ Because you base everything off your theme, you want it to be a theme you fall in love with and can easily base things off of- such as: decorations, invitations, cake, flowers, etc. Your theme should be incorporated into all of these things and used throughout your whole wedding.

3) Use your theme consistently throughout your whole wedding~ Like I said before you want to be consistent with your theme and use it in EVERYTHING. This is another reason why it is so important to pick the theme that is right for you.

4) Choose a theme that works well with the season~ Whatever season you choose to have your wedding in, should play a huge part in choosing the perfect theme. Look at the colors of the season, the temperature, the flowers, etc. These should play a huge role in your wedding's theme.

5) Choose whether you want your theme to be Classic or Modern~ You need to decide whether you want to go with an older 50's or 80's theme or stick to modern theme that fits with today's society.

6) Use your colors to help you decide on a theme~ If you decided your colors before your theme, use those to help you decide. If you chose traditional whites and tans with a light green you may choose a vintage theme. If you chose gray and tan with a blush pink, you may choose a classy wedding. Go with whatever the colors remind you of

Theme ideas; Pictures and Examples:

1) Vintage Wedding~ This wedding includes antique- like materials that give a very "homey" feel. They include boxes and crates with old, worn suitcases as displays. Decorations include twine and white flowers strategically placed in jars and many other "antique" looks.

2) Classy Wedding~ If you go for this style, you would have more of a glamor look with classy style. The decorations would include white lace and color patterns would include blush, tan, white, etc.

3) 50's Wedding~ This wedding goes for an older approach and is a cute idea for 50's lovers. Colors include mint green (my favorite), a pop of red, black and white, etc. If you Google 50's wedding theme, there are so many cute ideas to give your wedding a little "POP"

4) Traditional  Wedding~ A traditional wedding follows the basic pattern of white and cream, but you can add a pop of red. Normally, this wedding's decorations would include lace and the bride would wear a white dress. This wedding is simple and classic with a hint of modern touch and I absolutely love it!

5) Country- Chic Wedding~ This wedding has a classy feel with a country- style display. This wedding is a little like vintage wedding, but adds a sense of country-style likeness. You would incorporate twine in this, like vintage, but the difference comes where you would add the modern factor into all of this. It has a home-style country base with a modern look to top it all off.

I hope this post gave you inspiration about your wedding theme and how to choose it successfully. Make sure to check out my wedding checklist and stay tuned for the next post in this wedding series. Happy Wedding Planning!!!
